Ingrid Sweater

Ingrid Sweater

The Ingrid Sweater is a beautifully textured knit that feels classic, but still has enough detail to keep it interesting the whole way through.

It’s worked top down, beginning with the back yoke. The shoulders are shaped using short rows, then stitches are picked up to form the front before everything is joined to work the body in the round. The sleeves are picked up and knitted down from the armholes.

The standout feature is the textured stitch pattern, made up of three different knit and purl sections, each separated by a subtle eyelet row. It gives the sweater structure and detail without feeling heavy or overly complicated.

Yarn notes

This pattern is designed for a yarn with good structure and stitch definition.

You’re looking for:

  • a DK / 8 ply yarn, or similar weight depending on your gauge
  • something that holds its shape
  • and shows texture clearly

Yarns with a bit of structure will:

  • highlight the knit and purl patterning
  • keep the sweater looking crisp over time

If you choose something softer (like a superwash):

  • it will feel softer to wear
  • but you may lose a little of that stitch definition

Sizing

The Ingrid Sweater is designed with approx. 20 cm of positive ease, giving it a relaxed, easy fit.

Sizes available:
XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL

To choose your size:

  • measure your bust at the widest point
  • add around 20 cm for the intended fit
  • choose the size closest to that number

Example:
If you measure 90 cm, a size S will give you that relaxed fit.

  • working top down garments
  • picking up stitches
  • following texture patterns across shaping

A quick tip before you start

Make sure your swatch is worked in the texture pattern, not just stockinette.

Because this design relies on texture, both your stitch and row gauge matter for getting the fit right.
